Porter oversees the Lateral Partner Division of The Partners Group. He has been with the firm since 2007, opening the firm’s Charlotte office upon his relocation from Boston. In additional to associate-level and in-house placement, Porter’s primary focus is on partner-level searches and group acquisition / firm merger work on a national scale. He has placed partners with firms of all sizes and has brokered several large-scale acquisitions, including the opening of the Denver office of an AmLaw 200 firm; the acquisition of both a 30+ lawyer, multi-office PacWest firm and a 10-lawyer Northern California firm on behalf of a top national construction boutique; the opening of the Washington, D.C. office of a Southeast regional firm; and the opening of a 10- lawyer Chicago office on behalf of an international AmLaw 200 firm. Porter has a degree in Linguistics and Psychology from the University of Massachusetts at Amherst, as well as ABA approved paralegal certification from the National Center for Paralegal Training in Atlanta. He has worked in legal recruiting since 1997, oversaw the legal recruiting division of a multi-industry Boston-based recruiting firm, and for several years ran his own legal recruiting firm in Boston.

Porter lives in Charlotte with his beautiful wife and their pets. Despite his current locale, Porter is still an avid fan of all-things Boston sports and will happily discuss archaic Red Sox and Bruins stats with anyone with the patience to listen.
